Oregon's coastal communities are famous for the nomadic nature of its people.  Although musicians come and go, the Lincoln Pops — which started as a full orchestra playing light classical music — is still going strong after more than 20 years.  In fact, several band members have played since the inception of the band, notably trumpeter Bob Whisler and reed player Becky Colby. From an orchestra with a full string section to a "little big band" with 10 players to the current 18-piece big band; the 'Pops organization has seamlessly adapted to its ever-changing personnel, while continuing to play the timeless music beloved by listeners and dancers of all ages.

The band's piano position has been filled variously by a concert pianist from Russia, a church organist, a Las Vegas keyboardist and presently by "the Legendary Pat George."
Notable bass players have ranged from a 16-year-old high school student, to the leader of a bluegrass band, to a retired studio musician.
The band also provides enthusiastic accompaniment for a number of talented vocalists and small singing groups.

David Hutson

In 1998 David moved from Los Angeles to the central Oregon Coast. Suffice it to say, Los Angeles' loss is the Lincoln Pops' gain.
David has composed, arranged and produced music for 37 of the foremost artists of our time, ranging from the Louis Bellson and Harry James Orchestras to the Bolshoi Symphony in Moscow. He has served as musical director of 22 major musical events in the United States, Europe, Asia and points in between. As an instrumental performer he has played with almost every big name known today … Tony Bennett … Bob Hope … Dionne Warwick … Ted Weems and many others.
